- Samuel Morris Gaston and his brother John Smith Gaston left Harrison Co, WV in early 1847 and moved to Doddridge County. They bought property from their cousins, John Hugh, Eli and Daniel Gaston, who had come to Doddridge a few years before. They cleared land and built their homes on Camp Run, near Oxford.
