- Dr. Ritchie A. Ireland was a former president of Mountain State Hospital, Kanawha Medical Society and the Hospital Association of West Virginia. The 1207 Quarrier Street {Charleston), resident served as city health commissioner from 1919 to 1923 and in 1957 accepted an interim appointment as director of Kanawha-Charleston Health Department. Dr. Ireland was a member of the medical appeal board of West Virginia.6th District during WW I and was chief health officer for the city schools from 1928 to 1932. Earlier in his career, he served as assistant principal of Pennsboro High School.
