- Washington P. Moore's date, place and cause of death are documented in his military records and are considered to be reliable. There is also a death record on file for him in Tyler County, West Virginia, with conflicting details of his death, namely that he died on April 1 (rather than April 7) 1865, and that he "starved in Confederate Prison," rather than dying in a hospital of chronic diarrhea (dysentery). The Tyler County death record (DR p. 21, Line 40 : http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_view.aspx?Id=5065906&Type=Death ) was essentially a report of death filed by his father, and it is considered less reliable than the military records.
