(Note: Ida's widowed status is incorrect. Her husband William was enumerated in this census in Pittsburgh, marital status divorced.)
Local news item, "West Union Herald," Thurday, Mar 26 1925, in its entirety:
"Mrs. Ida Benninger and son Hadsel, of Salem, spent the first of the week here visiting friends and relatives. Mrs. Benninger sold her restaurant business in Salem a few months ago."
1930 Census, Wood Co, WV (City of Parkersburg), enumerated on Apr 3 1930 at 619 Avery Street:
Ida Benninger, 63, occupation "none," divorced; son Hansel L, 21, occupation painting in insulate wire industry, single. The household had seven additional occupants identified as "roomers," with no apparent relationship to the Benningers or to each other. It is likely that Ida was operating an informal boarding house.
1940 Census, Wood Co, WV (City of Parkersburg), enumerated at 419 Ann Street:
Hadsal L. Benninger, 31, stationary fireman in rayon factory, 3 yrs high school; wife Juanita G, 27, bookkeeper in furniture store, 3 yrs college; mother Ida P, 73, widowed, 6 yrs schooling.
