    • In the Dec 12 1910 issue of "Industrial World," an article listing new corporations included the following item of those in West Virginia:
      "Peterson Gas Alarm Company, of Clarksburg; to deal in patents; $48,000. A. S. Gould, Edmund Hugill, Fleming Howell, K. A. Gould, M. P. Hugill, G. B. Howell, all of Clarksburg."

      On Feb 12 1910, a patent application was filed for a gas alarm by Edmund Hugill, Albert S. Gould, and Gus A. Peterson of Clarksburg, West Virginia. The patent was granted on January 3, 1911, Patent No. 980,785.

      There are two entries for this death, both entered on the same page of the ledger-style death records book:
      (1) Albert S. Gould, white male, married, occupation plumber; died Feb 11 1911 in Clarksburg, age 55, cause of death carbuncle on neck. Informant: John P. McGains (?), physician.
      (2) Albert S. Gould, white male, married, occupation merchant; died Feb 11 1911 in Clarksburg, age 56 yr 9 mo, cause of death blood poisoning. Informant: Assessor.
      NOTE: Age 55 would put birth in about 1855 or 1856, but he was also age 55 in the 1910 Census, enumerated in April. Age age 56y 9m would put it in May 1854, which coincides with the May 1854 birth date given in the 1900 Census.
