NOTE: The circumstances of Martha Musser's presence in this household are explained in the following entry in a collection of Unacknowledge Writings, pages 207-208, dated 13 March 1883:
"Lucinda Musser of Pennsboro, Ritchie County, gives her daughter, Martha A. Musser, to Butler and Eliza Bond to raise. Lucinda agrees to pay the Bonds 25 cents per week "for raising and taking care of said Martha A. Musser until said Martha A. Musser becomes ten years old, which twently five cents per week is all paid but five dollars and ten cents up to said Martha A.
