- [S110] Obituary of husband.
No marriage record for Ezra McKinney Jr. and Mamie Cora Leggett was found in Doddridge County. However, Doddridge County Marriage Record 12-383 shows that on Mar 18 1931 a marriage license was applied for by Hugh Franklin McKinney (age 30, b. Doddridge Co, resident of Oxford) and Mamie Leggett (age 21, born & residing in Doddridge Co). Her stated age would be off by four years. But the portion of the license labeled "Minister's Return or Endorsement" was left blank, and the word "Void" was handwritten in red ink across the top of the license. This would indicate that the marriage did not occur. MR 12-295 shows that Mayme [sic] Leggett married Creed Lipscomb the following year. The marriage record of Patricia Lipscomb in 1956 identifies her parents as Creed Lipscomb (deceased) and Mamie Lipscomb McKinney, implying that Mamie remarried a McKinney subsequent to her marriage to Creed Lipscomb. Also, when Mamie remarried Jerry Junior Allman in 1957, after the birth of their two children in 1953 and 1956, she was identified as Mamie Cora McKinney, daughter of Elmore & Susie Leggett. The birth record of James Douglas McKinney in 1950 identifies his parents as Ezra J. McKinney & Maymie Cora Leggett, his marriage record in 1980 identifies his parents as Ezra McKinney Jr. & Mamie Leggett Allman, and his obituary identifies his parents as Ezra McKinney Jr. & Mamie Cora Leggett Lipscomb McKinney Allman. The marriage record of Roberta June McKinney in 1970 identifies her parents as Ezra McKinney Jr. & Cora Mamie Leggett Allman. Ezra's obituary stated "He married the former Mayme Leggett, who survives at Walker." His survivors included daughter June and son James, and "two stepdaughters, Patricia Leggett, West Union, and Grace Heldrith, Cleveland, Ohio." Mamie's obituary made no mention of a marriage other than to Jerry Allman, but it stated that she was "survived by five children: Patty Leggett, June Jones, Jim McKinney, Earnestean Griswold, all of West Union, and Richard Allman of Bellville."
