Notes - John Garrett is found in the 1783 Maryland tax assessment in Caroline County, Maryland, owning property called "Garrett's Point" in the Upper Choptank area. An Isaac Merrick owned most of the property called "Garrett's Point," but the exact connection between the two men is unknown. John Garrett married Elizabeth Howard in that year, and the family moved to Baltimore County, MD by the turn of the century. His birth date has been reported variously between 1751 and 1754. [2, 3]
