(NOTE: "Davis - The Settlers of Salem WV," p. 118, omits Herman from this family and instead lists Luther, with Herman's Apr 1880 birth date, and stating that he married Ethel Richards. But that Luther Hutson was born Apr 1889, a son of Iven Hutson & Sarah J P Davis. Herman L. Hutson, son of Isaac & Susan Virginia, was identified in his Doddridge County birth record as Luther H. Hutson. His birthplace was indicated in his death record as Clarksburg, but his WW II draft registration states Sedalia. It appears that Herman L. Hutson was the one-month-old son identified as William E. Hutson in the 1880 Census, basis for which is not known.)

Many of the men in the nearby households listed their occupations as "working on saw mill."
