    We have found no confirmed record of John J. Jones after the 1870 Census. His wife Elizabeth was head of household in the 1880 Census, marital status married. A sketchy death record exists in Lewis County for John Jones, widower, died Jun 7 1921 at age 85y 5m 12d (b. Dec-26-1835), but there is nothing in the record to indicate that it's the same John Jones. He was identified in the death record of daughter Emma Ellenor as John Paul Jones, the middle name believed to be in error. The 1870 Census and birth records of several children identify him as John J. Jones.

    Age 47 in his 1857 marriage record would put his birth in about 1810, but age 45 in the 1850 Census puts it in about 1805. Birthplace reported by Findagrave as Beverly, Randolph County, which appears to be incorrect. William's 1857 marriage record states his birthplace as Lewis County and his residence as Gilmer County. This may actually have been the same place, since a portion of Lewis County (formed in 1816 out of Harrison County) became a part of the newly-formed Gilmer County in 1845.
