The 1870 Census specifies it as Doddridge County, where the 1850 Census show his family to have been residing in the town of West Union. Note (2) This family was enumerated in the 1850 Census on July 16, 1850, in West Union, Doddridge County, where the two oldest children, Francis and Martin, were born. The next child in the 1860 Census was daughter Henrietta, born in Shenandoah County in 1854. It appears then that the mother was pregnant with son William H. Grove at the time of the 1850 Census, that he was born a month later, and that the family soon moved to Shenandoah County where Henrietta was born in 1853 and Charles H. died in 1855. After Henrietta was Charles B. Grove, born in 1858 and apparently named in honor of his deceased brother.Name Index
