Event Notes Note (1) Birth date given in 1900 Census as May 1845, but date on headstone is Jan 10 1842. Note (2) Birth date on headstone is Dec 4 1880. But she was in the 1880 Census, age 2, and the 1900 Census shows her birth date as Dec 1877. Note (3) Birth date given in the 1900 Census as July 1881 and in his death record as July 20 1881. But his birth record, which is an entry in a type ledger-style record book, states Sep 15 1881, an apparent mistranscription from the original. His headstone has only the year, 1882, clearly incorrect. Note (4) Birth date on headstone is Apr 10 1884, but birth record shows it as Apr 10 1883. His age was 16 in his January 1900 death record. Note (5) Local news item, "West Union Record," Jan 26 1900, in its entirety: "Neely Coyne, of Salem, who was hurt in a railroad accident at Flemington last week, died at Grafton on Monday." Note (6) Birthplace given in marriage record as Doddridge County, but in his WW II draft registration as Salem, Harrison County, and in Social Security records as near Salem, Harrison County. Although the city of Salem is in Harrison County, some nearby areas of Doddridge County are also referred to as Salem. But he was age 6 in the 1900 Census, birth date Feb 1894, and age 16 in the 1910 Census.
