Event Notes Note (1) From his obituary, all of which is corroborated in military records: "He enlisted in the Army of the Republic, Co., A, 14th West Va., Infantry, August 14, 1862. He saw much active service, having taken part in eleven major engagements and six skirmisher. He was taken prisoner at Cloyd's Mountain, May 13, 1864, and was confined in various confederate prisons, most of the time at Andersonville, until November 28, 1864, when he was paroled. He served his entire time without being wounded."
