Obituary, WU Herald, Thursday, Sep 30 1915:
"John R. (sic) Steele, of Clarksburg, died at the home of his daughters there
last Saturday evening at the age of 81 years.  He was city collector of the city
for 13 years consecutively.  In early life, he was proprietor of the Point Mills
in that city.  He was a brother of James Steele, who formerly owned the Steeles
Mills east of Smithton in this county."
