The child is identified as Thomas J. Ramsey, white male, born alive in Ritchie County, single birth, father A. J. Ramsey (occupation farmer, resident of Ritchie County), mother Lydia J. Ramsey. Informant: A. J. Ramsey, father. The spaces for the month and day of birth were lined through, with no date entered. Some researchers have interpreted this to be a form of ditto marks, indicating the same date as the preceding entry, which was Nov 16. But this appears unlikely, especially since the 1900 Census shows his birth date to be September 1896, age 3. Supporting documents were an affidavit from his sister Mary M. Parkhill, his WW II draft registration card, and the birth record of one of his children. The birth date on his headstone is 1899. It is noted, however, that although his WW II draft registration shows his birth date as Sep 18 1899, his WW One draft registration shows it as Sep 18 1898. While it is reasonable to assume that he was buried with his wife at the Wilson Cemetery, readings of that cemetery have found a headstone for her, but not for him. Note (3) Birth date given in death record as Jul 22 1855, while the date on her headstone is 1856. But the 1900 Census shows it as July 1857, consistent with her age at marriage and in all other census records. Note (4) Birth date given in birth record as Oct 20 1879, but in death record as Oct 21 1879. Name in birth record: V. E. Ramsey, daughter of Jackson & Lydia J. Ramsey. Note (5) In 1900, listed as sister-in-law Jennie Ramsey, 20, b. Apr 1880 (sic), single, in household of Albert & Mary (Ramsey) Parkhill. In this census, she was also enumerated with her parents and siblings in Ritchie County, with her name listed as Susan V. E. Ramsey, b. Oct 1879, single. Since she was listed with her family out of sequence from her sibilings, it is likely that her physical location was actually with her sister in Grafton. In 1910, listed as sister-in-law Virginia Ramsey, 28, single, no occupation, in household of Albert & Mary Parkhill and their five children. Note (6) Birth date given in death record as May 12 1880, but her birth record shows it as May 12 1881, and the 1900 Census also shows it as May 1881. She was not present for the 1880 Census, enumerated in June 1880. She was 18 in her September 1899 marriage record. Note (7) Birth date given in 1900 Census as Feb 1883. His birth record, which is a delayed entry filed by his sister Mary Parkhill in May 1949, shows it as Feb 18 1884, as does his death record. Note (8) Birth date given in 1900 Census as Dec 1884. But the date on his headstone is 1886, and his death record shows it as Jan 18 1886. Note (9) Birth date given in 1900 Census as November 1888. But his death record and World War One draft registration show it as Nov 11 1891, and age 28 in the 1920 Census also puts it in about 1891/92. Note (11) The birth record on file for Pearl Octavo Ramsey is a Delayed Entry Birth Certificate filed by by her sister Mary Parkhill in 1956. It shows Pearl's birth date to be Mar 9 1896, conflicting with the Sep 1896 birth date of brother Thomas and varying by two years from the March 1894 birth date shown in the 1900 Census. Based on the delayed birth record, Social Security records also show her birth date as Mar 9 1896, and the birth date on her headstone is also 1896.
