In private correspondence in July 2013, the author reported the following findings from research done since the 2001 revision of her book: "Now, here are the findings of Jerry O’Connell which indicate that the father of Christopher was THOMAS, born 1618, Warwick County, d. 1670, Westmoreland County. His widow married John Brooks before Nov. 09, 1670, when Thomas Pritchard’s inventory was listed in Westmoreland County Deeds, p. 77. After going through extant papers found in Virginia and England, Jerry learned that there were three Thomas Pritchards (Prichard/Prickett) living in Virginia according to the first census taken in 1623. After eliminating two of them, he logically concludes that ours is NOT the Thomas Prichard who arrived on the "Abigaile" in 1620 because that Thomas was alive and well on February 19, 1625 and testified in a case involving tobacco owned by Dr. Pott. The 1623 census lists two dead Thomas Prichards, one in Warwick County and the other in James City. The one who lived in Warwick County died in 1689 without issue. The Thomas who died before the 1623 census left a son named Thomas "as wellborn" in 1618. This Thomas died in Westmoreland County in 1670. His father was the brother of Miles and Henry Prickett who did arrive in 1610. Therefore, Jerry concludes, he is the progenitor of our line. "Wellborn" means of good lineage, or stock. Therefore, that indicates a heritage that is recorded, most likely in Canterbury or elsewhere.", Private correspondence, July 2013. "Christopher Pritchard I dies prior to Jul 07, 1730, when Martin Gollathan, John Jennings, and Giles Carter are appointed to appraise his estate. At the same Court, John Pritchett and Henry Williams -- both bound to him by indenture -- are discharged from the service of the Executor of the estate. No mention is made of his grandson Christopher, who probably had come of age by that time.", pp. 17, 24 & 27.
