Event Notes
Note (1) James W. Davis enrolled in Co. K, 10th W.Va. Infantry, on 10 Aug 1862 in
Harrisville, Va., and mustered in as a Private on 15 Nov 1862 in Beverly, Va. 
He died on 26 July 1864 of wound (musket ball in the right leg) received in
action on 24 July 1864 near Winchester, Va.  His military records further reveal
that he was married to Sarah Ann Ellifritt 20 Jan 1850 at Fairview, Doddridge
County, that son Warren W. was born 9 Nov 1850, son Samuel E. was born 11 Nov
1852, and John P. was born 11 Jul 1855.

Note (2) In 1870, listed as the only Davis in the household of Mary Ellifritt and
family.
