William Smith, Edward Price, and Henry Woodcock personally acknowledged their bond in Court for fifty pounds Sterling for the said William Smith, Admin. of Thomas Pritchard's Estate ... William Carter, Christopher Pritchard, Giles Carter, and Joseph Carpenter or any three of them are appointed ... to value and appraise all and singular the estate of Thomas Pritchard deceased.", p. 22. In private correspondence in July 2013, the author revealed the following findings from her research since the 2001 revision of her book: "Thomas Pritchard, b. abt. 1689, King George County, VA., d. before September 07, 1722, King George County, VA. m. to MARY, who remarried ? DONOLY/DONALLY. Children of Thomas Pritchard and Mary are: a. Christopher Pritchard b. John Pritchard, b. July 01, 1719 At King George County Court, March 04, 1725, Christopher Pritchard I is appointed Guardian of Christopher II Pritchet (sic) an orphan, son of Thomas Pritchet (sic) deceased. On Nov. 06, 1725, Mary Donoly indentures her son John Pritchard to Christopher Pritchard. Mary may have been the second wife of Thomas; otherwise, Christopher would not be an orphan. Perhaps it is so designated because he is the oldest child and closer the age of indenture than his sibling. On Nov. 1728, the same Court orders that John Pritchet, son of Thomas Pritchet, serve Christopher Pritchett to the age of 21. He was then nine years of age. During the same proceedings, Henry Williams (son of Joyce Pritchard and Henry Williams Sr. deceased) is ordered to serve Christopher Pritchet to the age of 21. He was then fourteen years of age. The indenture of Henry Williams is approved by his mother, now Joyce Smith of Washington Parish in Westmoreland County. The proceedings are witnessed by Francis Smith, Henry’s stepfather, and Mary Donoly." Although the wife of Christopher Pritchard II was originally identified as Sarah Gollathan, daughter of Martin Gollathan, further research by author Emily P. Cary has cast doubt on that conclusion. Martin Gollathan (also spelled Golathan, Golothan and Golorthum) and Christopher Pritchard II were parties to a land lease in Oct 1732, and Christopher II was named as beneficiary and an executor of Martin Gollathan's will the following month. Although quite possible, there is no conclusive evidence that Martin Gollathan had a daughter Sarah or that Sarah's surname was Gollathan. pp. 27, 28. Name Index
