Event Notes
Note (1) Birthplace given in 1858 marriage record as Harrison County, in 1870 marriage
record as Preston County, in 1884 marriage record as Monongalia County, and in
death record as Barbour County.
Note (2) The 1890 Veterans Survey, in which he was listed as Absolem Hyleman,
indicates his service dates as Jul 1861 to 1865, unit given as 14th W.Va. Inf,
company not specified.  Information in that Survey is generally as provided to
the enumerator by the veteran himself.  But "Hileman Genealogy" reports his
service dates as Sep 1864 to Jun 1865, which is more in keeping with his
documented draft registration in Jul 1863.  Other records, including his Civil
War pension record, indicate his unit as Co C, 6th W.Va. Inf.
Note (3) Birth date given in death record as Apr 21 1875, and age 62 in obituary
conforms to that date.  But age 10 in 1880 Census would put birth in about 1870,
while Hileman Genealogy" reports it as 1872.
Note (4) Listed as an unnamed son, born in Feb 1880.
