| Notes |
- Local news item, "West Union Herald," Thursday, Sep 16 1915, in its entirety:
"William E. Simpson, who has been teaching in the Philippines for some time, was in town one day last week. He returned home by way of the eastern route, and has many interesting things to tell of his trip. Landing at Gibralter, he traveled through Spain and France and was permitted to view some of the western battle-line in the great struggle now going on over there. He has now entered the University at Morgantown, where he will continue his studies."
