| Notes |
- Local news item, "Doddridge County Republican," Thursday, Oct 12 1916, in its entirety:
"Sherman Stout, the twelve-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Stout of Porto Rico, is in all probability the champion Ground Hog hunter of this section, if not indeed, of the entire state. On last Saturday evening it came to us from a verty trustworthy source that Sherman had recently killed his 58th woodchuck for the season -- and if we are not misinformed, all were killed with a rifle. Who can beat it?"
