    • 1910 Census, Harrison Co, WV (Tenmile District, Town of Salem), enumerated on May 3 1910:
      Bessie Frum, 39, boarding house keeper, married 17 yrs, mother of 3 children (2 still living); dau Eathel F, 16; dau Lena M, 11; son James W, 1.
      The remaining household members, all single and of no apparent relationship, were listed as boarders:
      Henry Halley, 21, team driver; Everet Gmut (?), 58, team driver; Harley Gaines, 25, team driver; Ezry Williams, 23, team driver; Windan Bunnell, 18, team driver; Will S. Gains, 38, proprietor of barn & teams; Solomon McIntyre, 24, team driver; Cornelius Goff, 39, roustabout in oil fields; Roy Cain, 19, team driver. All born in West Virginia except Evert Gmut, born in Pennsylvania.
      NOTE (1): We have found no other instance of Rebecca Boyce Frum going by the name Bessie. The count of her children should have been 4, with 3 still living, and her marital status should have been entered as divorced, and indicated in the 1900 Census, when they were enumerated separately. In the 1910 Census, Sylvanus was enumerated in Youngstown, Ohio.
      NOTE (2): The boarder listed as Will S. Gains appears to be the Waitman T. W. "William" Gain who Rebecca married in about 1914. Although no marriage record has been found for them, they appeared together as man and wife in the 1920 Census, and her headstone identifies her as the wife of W. T. Gain. The boarder listed as Harley Gaines was William Gain's brother. It seems that the various members of that family decided on their own spelling of their surname.
      NOTE (3): The natural father of Rebecca's son James W. Frum is not known. It is noted, however, that James' middle name was Waitman, same as the formal given name of the Will Gains in this household, who Rebecca later married.
