    • There are two birth records in Doddridge County for Anna Barker, daughter of James & Mary E. Barker. The first identifies her as Anna May Barker, born 18 Sep 1874. The second identifies her as Anna M. Barker, born 24 Feb 1879. The 1879 date is consistent with most other records, including age 1 in the 1880 Census and age 16 in her 1895 marrige record. She was age 21 in the 1900 Census, with her birth date entered as April 1879 rather than February. Age 65 in her 1938 marriage record, putting her birth in about 1873, is inconsistent with other records, while birth date 1867 on her headstone is clearly incorrect and has no explanation. Her name appears on her headstone as Anna Barker Thompson Simmons.

      Regarding the 18 Sep 1874 birth record, that actually pertains to another daughter of that family who died young. That child was identified in her Doddridge County death record as May L. Barker, died 10 Oct 1876, age 2 yr 10 da, daughter of J. & M. E. Barker.

      1930 Census, Harrison County, WV (Elk District), enumerated on April 17, 1930 at Chub Run:
      William M. [sic] Thompson, 64, farm laborer, cannot read/write; wife Anna M, 54, cannot read/write; son Brady E, 14; son Richard M, 12.

      William L. Thompson died in Doddridge County on 12 Jan 1936. Anna remarried Ira N. Haught on 16 June 1938 in Doddridge County. [8]

      Ira Newton Haught died in Ritchie County on 20 Dec 1947. There is no mention in his obituary of his marriage to Anna Barker. Ritchie County marriage records reflect that Anna May Haught married Thomas Edwards in 1948, but they separated prior to the 1950 Census

      1950 Census, Ritchie County, WV (Clay District), enumerated on April 17, 1950 at Bunnells Run:
      Annie May Thompson (corrected from Edwards), 76, separated; son Richard M. Thompson, 33, separated, occpation tending horses in horse barns; grandson Junior Thompson, 10.

      Although we have found no record of her death or of another remarriage, her headstone shows her name as Anna Barker Thompson Simmons, death date 1957. [5]
