Local news item, "Doddridge County Republican," Thursday, Dec 3 1914:
"Our old friend Jim Boyce of Pennsboro, formerly of McClellan, was in the city recently. While discussing local conditions in this county and Ritchie, Jim remarked that he used to think Doddridge was the worse of the two; but since living in Ritchie awhile, he had come to the conclusion that that county is worse than Doddridge. We then explained to Jim that he was likely right in both instances; than maybe he holds a kind of balance of power; than when he lived in Doddridge, it was the worse; and that since he has moved to Ritchie, it is the worst."
