      Identified as F. J. Ashburn, 20, res. Doddridge Co, son of William Ashburn; and Nancy C. Strother, 17, res. Doddridge Co, dau of Rachel Strother. Marriage license issued Oct 11 1852. (Note: The ledger-style record book contains only a listing of marriage licenses issued. A corresponding record book of subsequent marriages has not been found. In this case, however, the diary of Flavius Josephus Ashburn states that he did obtain the marriage license on Oct 11 1852 and that the marriage took place on Oct 14 1852 at the home of Joel Davis. The minister was T. T. Henderson.)
