Note (3) Melissa Reed McKinney's death record, obituary and headstone show her birth date as Dec 19 1891, rather than the Dec 19 1890 indicated in her birth record. Her obituary states that she was born in Lewis County, rather than in Doddridge County as the birth records show. The headstone also shows a death date of Jan 17 1970, rather than the Jan 18 1970 indicated in her death record and obituary. Her obituary specifies that her death occurred on Sunday, Jan 18 1970, a date that did in fact fall on a Sunday. Note (4) Local news item, "West Union Herald," Thursday, Jan 25 1917, in its entirety: "A small child of Ezra McKinney, who lives on Brushy Fork, died Sunday evening and was buried Monday evening by C. S. Pease Funeral Director." Note (5) While obituary gives birthplace of Ezra McKinney Jr. as Doddridge Co, no birth record for him was found there. Birth record of son James identifies his father as Ezra J. McKinney, born in Rosemont, WV, which is located in Taylor Co.
