He was on a car with another brakeman when it left the track; one jumped one way and one the other, the car following George, falling over on him, literally crushing him into the earth and killed him instantly. The remains were brought to West Union Friday morning on train No. 71 by the order of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. All that was earthly of George was laid to rest in the IOOF cemetery. He was raised in Doddridge County and many of his relatives still live here. He was 26 years of age and married, though he lived apart from his wife.", 5/9/2006, researched by Donald E.
