Event Notes
Note (1) Age 72 in death record would put birth in about 1822.  But census records
consistently put his birth in about 1827 or 1828.
Note (2) Based on nearby families known to have lived there, it appears in the 1870
Census that the Payton household was located in the Nutters Fork area.  On the
same basis, in 1880 the family seems to have been in the town of West Union.
Note (3) Birth date given in death record as Mar 4 1840.  But census records
consistently show her birth as about 1839, with the 1900 Census specifiying
March 1839.
