But birth record shows that he was born on May 25 1855 at Straight Fork of Hughes River, Doddridge County. Note (2) Obituary of wife erroneously states marriage date as Nov 26 1875. Note (3) Birth date given in 1900 Census as Dec 1878, but obituary states Dec 27 1877. Note (4) Death date of Oct 11 1917 is reported in "Doddridge County Deaths" and in death certificate on file at West Virginia Division of Vital Statistics, cause of death listed as childbirth. But obituary, headstone, and husband's obituary give her death date as Oct 21 1917, and daughter Lenora was born on Oct 20 1917, so the latter date must be correct. Note (5) Wes Cochran's "Doddridge County WV Marriages" reports marriage date as Apr 19 1904. Note (6) Wife's obituary gives Worthy Eugene Adams' death as occurring in 1963, but that is incorrect. His obituary (in the West Union Herald of Thursday, October 24, 1957) states that he was born on Aug 24 1889 and died on Monday at his home in Parkersburg at age 68. Son Worthy's obituary states that his father died in 1957. Note (7) Name entered as Alvin in birth record, but appears as Alva in all other records. Birth date given as Apr 1897 in 1900 Census, and death record states birth date as Apr 17 1897, but his birth record shows it as Apr 17 1898.
