Event Notes
Note (1) Birth date given in 1900 Census as Aug 1863.  But age 8 in the 1870 Census
would put her birth in about 1862, while age 15 in the 1880 Census would put it
in about 1865.  Age 41y 6m in death record would put birth in about Aug/Sep
1863.  According to family tradition, Cassander Gray was an orphaned
full-blooded Indian adopted by James and Sarah Gray.  They guessed her age to be
about three when they later recorded her birth in Tyler County court records.
