Note (2) From the will of James Merritt, probated in Ritchie County on Sep 16 1929: "I give and bequeath to Lawrence Doak all my property both personal and real of whatever kind and whatever situate, to have and to hold the same, to his and his heirs and assigns forever. "I nominate and appoint the said Lawrence Doak the sole executor of this my last WILL and request that no bond be required of his in the settlement of the same." (NOTE: The next enumerated household in the 1920 Census was that of Lawrence S. Doak and his wife and daughter.) Note (3) Age in death record calculates to a birth date of Oct 2 1855, and date on headstone is also 1855. But age 7 1860 Census puts it in about 1853.
