Event Notes
Note (1) Born in Virginia.  Father born in Pennsylvania, mother in Virginia.
Note (2) Birth date given in 1900 Census as Aug 1857, but date on headstone is
1858.
Note (3) The 1874 birth date on his headstone is incorrect, as his birth record shows
it to be Apr 15 1871.  This conforms to his age 8 in the 1880 Census. The 1900
Census also incorrectly shows his birth date as Apri 1873.   But his death
record, his Social Security application, and his obituary all indicate his birth
date as Apr 15 1869.  This is incorrect, not only because of his birth record,
but also because he did not appear in the 1870 Census,
