His obituary states that he was a native of Cairo, which is in Ritchie County. Note (2) Wife's obituary incorrectly states marriage date as Aug 14 1912. North Carolina marriage records show it as Aug 13 1914, with her age 23 at time of marriage. Note (3) Age 25y 5m 10d in obituary calculates to a birth date of Jan-30-1890. But birth date in 1900 Census is Dec 1890, while her birth record states Dec 30 1889. But the filing date of that birth record is Jan 2 1889, leaving some doubt. But two other versions of her obituary specify a birth date of Jan 1 1889, with same age at death.
