Event Notes Note (1) The Ohio Death Index show that Benjamin F. Davis died in Fleming, Washington County, Ohio, on Nov 18 1919. This date corresponds to the death date on his military grave marker, his civilian grave marker, and his Civil War pension index card. There was also an entry made by the County Assessor in the Ritchie County death records to reflect the same place of death, but with the date indicated as Nov 18 1920. Note (2) Benjamin F. Davis' Military unit is given in H. H. Hardesty's "History of Doddridge County" (1883) as Co A, 14th W.Va. Infantry, as does his Civil War pension index card. But his military grave marker shows it as Co F, 6th W.Va. Infantry, which is actually the unit of a different Benjamin Daivs, who died in Rowlesburg in 1920. Note (3) Age in marriage record would put birth in about 1844.Name Index
