Event Notes Note (1) Based on the ages given in the various records, George W. Maxwell was born anywhere from 1858 (age 52 in 1910 Census) to 1865 (1920 Census and death record). Other records put it at various years in between. Birthplace given in 1880 marriage record as Gilmer County, in 1922 marriage record as Ritchie County, and in death record as Doddridge County. Note (2) Death record states birth date as 1849, month and day not specified. But age 23 given at time of Feb 1880 marriage would put birth in about 1856, age 45 in 1900 Census puts it at about 1855, and age 7 in 1860 Census would put it at about 1853.. Note (3) Birth date given in 1900 Census as July 1878, age 21. Note (4) Age given in marriage record would put birth in about 1888. Birthplace given in marriage record as Wood County, but son's death record states Ritchie County. Note (5) Age 24y 1m 27d on headstone calculates to a birth date of Nov- 9-1887. But 1900 Census gives it as Oct 1887. Note (6) Age 52y 2m 28d in death record calculates to a birth date of Feb- 8-1891. But the 1900 Census shows his birth date as Feb 1894, age 6, and age 26 in 1920 Census would also put it in about 1894.
