Event Notes Note (1) Alexander Lowther was a Private in Captain John Bozarth's 5th Regiment Virginia Militia. On 30 Oct 1850, Alexander Lowther stated that he was drafted into Captain John Bozarth's 5th Regiment Virginia Militia in Clarksburg on 1 Sept 1814 for a six-month tour. He was honorably discharged at Fort Nelson, Norfolk, Va on 9 Dec 1814 after furnishing a substitute for the remainder of his tour. His military file also shows that Alexander and Rachel were married in West Union, Harrison County by Samuel Archbold. However, their marriage record is on file in Tyler County. Alexander Lowther's physical description at time of draft: 5'9", blue eyes, fair complexion, light hair, farmer living in Harrison County, Va. Rachel stated that they always resided in Ritchie County (Oxford) after their marriage.
