Event Notes Note (1) In her 1911 "History of Ritchie County," p. 582, Minnie Kendall Lowther reported that Alexander J. Lowther "... died at Oxford on April 20, 1864, and sleeps in the White Oak Cemetery. His first wife lies near the M.P. Church at this place, and the second at Pullman." Findagrave contributor Barbara Nicholson reports that Sarah Ireland Lowther's grave at the Michael (formerly Oxford M. P. Church) Cemetery is located "off to left outside the fence near some trees." There actually appear to be two markers for her there, located close together. One appears to be the original marker, and the other a "in memory of" marker. Note (2) cannot writeName Index
