Event Notes Note (1) Birth date given in 1900 Census as Jul 1856. Note (2) Birth date on her headstone is Dec 12 1863. But her obituary states her birth date as Dec 11 1862, the 1900 Census also shows it as Dec 1862, and age 20 in her March 1883 is also consistent with a Dec 1862 birth date. Note (3) Death date on headstone is Aug 4 1916, which the calendar shows to have been a Friday. But her obituary states that she died "at 3:15, Saturday afternoon, Aug. 5." Her death record also shows the death date as Aug 5 1916, with age at death 54y 8m 24d. But that age calculates to a birth date of Nov 12 1861, which is inconsistent with the Dec 1862 or Dec 1863 birth date in her obituary and on her headstone, respectively. Note (4) Birth date given as Jul 21 1890 in death record, and 1890 in on her headstone. But the 1900 Census shows it as Jul 1891, age 8. Middle initial given as M in 1900 Census, but L in death record. Her birth record resolves the conflicts by showing that her birth name was Lena Hitt, born Jul 21 1891 at Morgans Run to Lot (sic) and Alice Vanhorn Hitt, this being the mother's fourth child.
