Event Notes Note (1) Minnie Kendall Lowther (HRC, p. 603) reports his death as 1865 near Weston in Lewis County, but more official sources state Feb 13 1862 in West Union, Doddridge County. The death date on his now-weathered grave marker also appears to be Feb 13 1862. His will, dated July 8 1860, was submitted for probate at the February 1862 term of the Doddridge County Court. Note (2) In 1840, he was enumerated as the only member of the household. Note (3) Place of death given as Lost Creek in Harrison County WV in "History of Ritchie County," p. 603. But Findagrave reports Cardington in Morrow County Ohio, which is more likely. Note (4) There is a conflict in birth dates as reported by Minnie Kendall Lowther in "History of Ritchie County." A birthdate of Aug 27 1799 is specified for Amy Maxwell (p. 604), but her father reportedly died in 1796 (p. 600) and "in 1799 his widow, Mrs. Jane Lewis Maxwell, with her six orphaned children removed to Harrison county..." (p. 600). Amy Maxwell Peck's headstone shows a death date of May 23 1847, aged 48 years.
