The 1860 shows his age as 1, and the 1870 Census shows it as 12, in both cases two years younger than sister Rachel. Birth date was given in the 1900 Census as Jan 1860, age 40.

    Age 30y 5d in death record would put his birth date at May 12 1867, and the date on his headstone is also 1867. But age 9 in the 1870 Census and age 17 in 1880 puts it in about 1861 or 1863, while his stated age in his marriage record puts in exactly in between, at about 1862. Either way, the 1867 birth year aopears to be incorrect. Similarly, the 1898 death date on his headstone conflicts with the May 17 1897 date in his death record.

    Following graduation from Youngstown South High School, Forrest Waller attended Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, where he earned a B.A. degree. He then went on to Boston University, from which he received a S.T.B. degree (Bachelor of Sacred Theology) (later redesignated Master of Divinity). In June 1981, Baldwin-Wallace awarded him with an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity for his service and accomplishments in the church.

    Forrest's first church was Brookfield Methodist Church where he served for four years. He then became the head pastor at Oberlin First United Methodist Church in Oberlin for five years and then became the head minister at Grace United Methodist Church in Coshocton for seven years, where his family formed many friendships that lasted a lifetime. He then finished his career at First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls for the next twenty years. He was later named that church's Pastor Emeritus. Upon his retirement from active ministry on 24 June 2001, he continued to work part time at Akron Methodist Church and volunteered at Stan Hywet Hall giving tours.

    Despite his many accomplishments, academic honors and lofty positions, Forrest J. Waller was not the least bit stuffy or pretentious. Known in his youth by the nickname "Bobby," he continued to be called "Bob" by his family and close friends.
