Notes |
- From a front-page article titled "Win Golden Stars," listing local war casualties, "Doddridge County Republican," Thursday, Nov 21 1918:
"From the distant West -- out near the Golden Gate -- comes the news of the death of an old Doddridge boy.
"William Lee Netzer was killed in action about Oct. 18th to 20th. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Netzer of Sanger, Cal., formerly of Arnolds Creek, and he was born and grew to manhood on old Arnolds Creek, on the farm now owned by Assessor J. Benton Swiger.
"Besides his immediate family in the west, his loss is mourned by his aged grandfather, Jacob Netzer of Arnolds Creek; his grandmother, Mrs. Matilda Conaway of 1312 Lyon St., Parkersburg, and many other relatives and friends."
