"Mrs. Franklin H. Carroll died Saturday afternoon at her home in San Francisco, California. A western lady, she was married to Mr. Carroll in Kansas City. Mr. Carroll was himself formerly well known here, and has many relatives in this county who will be sorry to hear of his sad loss, among whom are two sisters, Mrs. Mary Ingle of this city and Mrs. W. J. Trough of Smithton."
Local news item, "West Union Herald," Thursday, January 7 1915, in its entirety:
"Mrs. Mary Ingle received a telegram Sunday morning announcing the death at San Francisco of Mrs. Veda Carroll, wife of Frank Carroll, who has lived there some years. Mr. Carroll was reared here, the youngest son of the late Capt. John Carroll. He and his family have visited here several times and Mrs. Carroll was well known to many of our people."
