- News article:
"Mrs. Stella Knight of Canton, near West Union, has received word from the War Dept. that her grandson, Lieutenant Ancil Warner Knight, who recently received a Silver Star for gallantry in action, had been killed in action in Germany.
Lieut. Knight received his Silver Star for flying a liaison plane that was in danger of Nazi artillery fire to a safety zone. Although he had never soloed a plane before, he took it off and landed without incident, later returning it to its original quarters.
Lieut. Knight's parents, Mr. & Mrs. Ancil Knight, reside in Oklahoma. They were residents of Canton before going to Oklahoma a few years ago. He is a nephew of Henry Knight of Wilsonburg, and Mrs. Lena Digman of Center Point."
