Identified as Mary Jane Palmer, white female, married, age 60; died Apr 10 1912, cause of death "unknown." Informant: Wm. Palmer. The form widely used in this ledger style death record has a column labeled Place of Birth, but none for place of death. This oversight in printing is often administratively corrected by crossing out the word "birth" and substituting "death," in which case the intent of the entry is clear. Since the heading of this particular record was not modified, it is unclear whether its entry, Lost Creek, was referring to the deceased's place of birth or death. The latter is most likely. In any event, another column pertaining to administrative jurisdiction implies that the death occurred in Elk District.

Identified as William Palmer, widower, 26, b. & res. in Harrison Co, son of Isaac & Mary A. Palmer; and Mary J. Watton, single, 20, b. & res. in Harrison Co, dau of Zachariah & Eliza Watton. Married Dec 12 1872 in Harrison County. (Note: Although wife's surname does appear to be Watton in the handwritten ledger, the spelling could actually be Walton. But her father was clearly identified as Zacharia Watton in the 1850 Census.)
