"Miss Ida J. Warner spent a few days last week at Camp Lee, Va., visiting her brother Dorsey O. Warner and reports seeing the following young men from our county who all appeared in good health and find spirits: Sam Weekley of Shirley, Mitchell Snider, Bruce Bland, Frank Duckworth, Clyde Spencer, Ernest Ford, ...." (remainder illegible)
On May 17, 1918, Dorsey and his fellow soldiers in Co C, 319th Infantry, 80th Division, set sail for Europe from Newport News aboard the U.S.S. Madawaska.
