    • Records show that Riley G. Davis enlisted in Company A, 14th W.Va. Infantry, in West Union on Aug 14 1862. He mustered in on active duty at Wheeling on Aug 23 1862. In October 1862, he was home sick on furlough in Doddridge County. On April 25 1863, he was shot in the abdomen at the Battle of Greenland Gap. The bullet penetrated his bowels, and he died of wounds the next day.
