Obituary from "Coopers' Clarksburg Register," Wed, Nov 8 1854: "Died. -- At his residence in West Milford, on the 29th of October, Jesse Lowther, aged 81 years -- The Deceased settled at his residence where he died while still the center of the town of West Milford was an unbroken woods.
