NOTE: Other than this census, the only indication that James Courtney & Monna Lynch were married is a name change that she submitted to Social Security in May 1937, in which she gave her name as Mona Lynch Courtney, born 24 Feb 1897 in Avon (Doddridge Co WV), parents Ernest V. Lynch and Jennie S. Webb. We have found no marriage record or other evidence that they were married. When James remarried three years later, his marital status was divorced. Monna later reverted to her previous married surname Duffield. Her given name is predominately found with the double-N spelling.
