  • Notes
    • Winifred and William Edwin Hoffman left the morning after their marriage for China, where he joined the faculty of Lingnan University in Canton. They were both interned during World War II. He was held by the Japanese in Canton, while she was held at Manila, The Philippines, from Pearl Harbor Day until near the end of the war, when the camp was liberated by the 111th Airborne Division. They made their home in later life in Lawrence, Kansas, where he was on the faculty of the Kansas University. [1]
