    • 1860 Census, Doddridge Co, Virginia (now West Virginia), enumerated on Jun 30 1860:
      Franklin Davis, 19, farm laborer; Martha, 19.

      1870 Census, Doddridge Co, WV (New Milton District), enumerated on Aug 9 1870:
      Martha Davis, 29; Lovina, 8; Rosetta, 7; Nancy J, 4; Everett E, 2.

      "Davis - The Settlers of Salem WV," p. 71, reports three children for Franklin Davis & Martha Snider/Snyder: twins Virginia & William, b. Apr 9 1872, and Rosetta who married Peter Davis. Doddridge County death records do show that a Virginia Davis, dau of Franklin & Martha, died on May 9 1872, and that a William Davis, son of Franklin & Martha, died on Aug 9 1872. But since Franklin died five years earlier, those must be the children of another Franklin & Martha Davis. [2]
